Olowalu Beach Cleanup

Saturday, October 12,  9-11am Sponsored by Maui Nui Marine Resource Council Meet at mile marker 14. This is the 2nd cleanup at Olowalu as part of international Coastal Cleanup month. After the first cleanup it was evident that this special area,chosen as a priority site for the Maui Coral Reef Recovery Plan, needs a lot more love! Bring your beach and snorkel gear for fun in the sun and a possible guided reef tour afterwards.

Sierra Club Endorses Senator Brian Schatz

Honolulu, Hawai`i –  Today, Hawaii’s largest grassroots environmental organization announced its official endorsement of Senator Brian Schatz for the 2014 U.S. Senate election. Members and leaders of the Sierra Club cited the Senator’s commitment to clean energy and long history of environmental leadership as the central reason for the endorsement, and pledged to lend its volunteer strength to the Schatz campaign. The vote to endorse Senator Brian Schatz was unanimous.

Climate Change Action

This is a non-Sierra Club activity that supports our goal of reducing climate change.  Senator Brian Schatz will speak and give a press conference: On Saturday, August 24, citizens concerned with the threats of climate change will hold a demonstration at the Waihe’e Coastal Dunes & Wetlands Refuge of projected impacts on Maui for future generations if current trends of global warming continue at the current pace.
